People who are stressed about something need to go through two assessments, one is the initial assessment and the other is the reassessment.
An initial assessment is to determine whether something is relevant to you or not. When you feel that something has nothing to do with you, you are less likely to have a stress response to it. If something is about you, you reassess whether your resources can handle it.
When coping resources are sufficient to solve the problem, you are less likely to have a stress response. When the resources we have to deal with a situation exceed the resources we have to deal with it, we develop a stress response.
Of course, we can't objectively assess stressful events and our own resources to deal with them. Especially insecure people, they will exaggerate the severity of stressful events and underestimate their coping resources.
